Factors to keep in mind when buying a travel cot

Many hotels, villas and even B&B’s will usually be able to arrange for a baby cot of your choice if you warn them in advance. However, many parents prefer to use the option of having their own baby cot, rather than making use of the one provided by the hotel, since they rightly think that carrying their own baby travel cot is a safer, cleaner and more hygienic option.

Dragging a cot, your child, buggy and luggage down an endless stretch of a railway platform or in and out of a car can be a pain. This is something worth keeping in mind if you are working out any travel plan.

In fact, for a majority of travel cots, the terms ‘travel’ and ‘cot’ should not really be clubbed together, so before considering design features, you should first work out whether you really need one. How you travel will determine the best travel cot for you and your baby.

For example, if your idea of travelling is rather limited to the occasional trip to your close relatives and friends in the vicinity, you may not actually need to get a travel cot.
